The word

Genade literally means mercy or grace. Said out loud, it's the South African cry of shock or amazement, often "Goeie genade!" (good grief, good heavens). As in: "Genade, look at the price of biltong here!" For the Saffa who says it under their breath at the checkout, and for anyone who'd like to start.

What you get

One Genade fridge magnet in your choice of style: Sunshine, Seaside, Veld or Sunny Mix.

Size & materials

A flat, square fridge magnet with the word, its say-it guide and its meaning. Printed in the USA. Many stainless-steel fridges aren't magnetic, so it may not stick to yours. Each magnet is 3 × 3 in (7.6 × 7.6 cm).

Gift ideas
  • "Your Saffa's first Christmas in America"
  • A Secret Santa gift with a story behind it
  • For the friend who says "good grief" at least once a day
